History

Diamantina district is named after Diamantina Shire Council which is named after Lady Diamantina Bowen (nee’ Roma), the wife of the first Governer of Queensland, Sir George Bowen

In terms of scouting, Diamentina district was formed in 2017 [1].  Some scout groups deliver the scout program via School of the Air.  The Scouts of the Air program is administratively located within Diamantina District [2].  Its first District Commissioner was Albert Shelley. [3]
