History
Fassifern district is named after Fassifern Valley which is a valley within the Scenic Rim Regional Council, in South East Queensland. The area is one of four vegetable-producing areas in southern Queensland. The valley was discovered by Captain Patrick Logan, a monument commemorates this event. Early settlers to the Fassifern Valley included John Cameron and his brother-in-law Robert Coulson who arrived on the Darling Downs only to find all the best land already taken up. Cameron named Fassefern after a place in Scotland. Fassifern district was formed in 2011, when Flinders district was re-organised. The district closed in 2019.
