History

Logan district is named after Logan City Council, which is named after the Commandant of the Moreton Bay Penal Settlement, Captain Patrick Logan. Patrick Logan was an explorer and in 1826 discovered the Logan River. Logan noted the river was well suited to large-vessel traffic and was a first-class avenue to access the high-quality arable land along its banks.

Logan Central district was formed in 1985, and was last mentioned in Brisbane South Area directories in 1987 [1, 2].
