Wyaralong District

 

Badge Description

Cloud with lightning = Link with the former Albert Lindesay district badge, and also reflecting the local legend that Jimboomba was named after a lighting strike

Grey structure on mountains = Distinctly shaped tiered summit/peak of Mount Lindesay within the Mount Barney National Park (Qld) and the Border Ranges National Park (NSW)

Mountains : Great Dividing Range and Mount Lindesay representing the south and westerm edges of the district

Blue lake = Wyaralong dam

Yellow = Grazing country throughout the area

Badge was issued March 2022 (5)

The badge design drew on input from youth members across the region, and Steve  Marshall (Region Commissioner), completed the final artwork for the badge in keeping with a common theme across the districts in the region [6]

History

Wyaralong district is named after Wyaralong Dam, which is North West of Beenleigh [1].  The dam is sited on an area within the Scenic Rim called the “Wyaralong” which was once used for air gunnery and bombing practice in WW2 [2].  Wyaralong district was formed in 2019 [3].
